Essie Cute as a button

Happy Monday lovelies! I thought I'd try and brighten up your day with a pop of colour.

I popped into town the other day and fancied a new colour for my nails. I'm fed up of the dull, damp, miserable already that we're having over in the UK so was on the lookout for something bright and fresh. I'm done with the reds, browns and sparkles and I'm dreaming of Spring already and all the fab colours that await us.

Hello Cute as a button from my favourite brand of the moment, Essie
I know we're still in early Jan but I for one can't wait for the warmer weather and the pastel shades to come back, not to mention getting my toes out again with a bit of colour on them. They do look rather anemic right now as they've been hidden away for months with nothing on them. I like to let my toenails be free and breath during the winter months though, don't you? I mean lets face it they don't see the light of day do they in the winter, so why phaff with putting nail polish on them, always hidden away in socks or tights, mind you perhaps that's a good thing with the state of some peoples feet, eughhhh!!!
Sadly the store I was in didn't have a huge stock of Essie polishes so I was tempted to buy another brand. I came back to this shade though and am so glad I did. It's a pinky/coral colour and I don't normally go for any shade of coral, I'm very much a pink girl, but for some reason I was drawn to this one and I've got to say I LOVE IT. Its fresh and feminine.

I don't know if you're anything like me but I have to try out the nail polish the minute I get it home. I'm excited by the little pot of colour that can instantly lift your mood and brighten up your day. You'll probably know that any colour doesn't last on my nails before it starts to chip, usually within a couple of days to be honest, a real pain in the backside as I constantly have to re-apply. However, I have fallen in love with Essie,  and they are now my brand of choice. I put two coats of this on, and four, yes, four days later got the first little chip. I am constantly banging away on a keyboard, whether at work or blogging, so I'm amazed at the serious staying power of this polish.

If you're not into bright colours then don't worry Essie have a vast range of light/neutral colours too.

I'm thinking of trying out their Quick-e drying drops. Anyone tried them yet?

Do you stick to lighter shades or do you like to mix it up a little?

  1. This is such a beautiful, lovely color. I always love to apply coral nail polish on my nails because it stands out really well esp I have a pretty pale skin. Gonna try this out soon!
    Thanks for sharing, love <3

    1. You are welcome. As I say I'm not normally one for corals but this is such a lovely colour. I am actually about to reapply (think I'm going to live in this one!) for work tomorrow. You should definitely try it. Thanks for taking the time to comment. xx

  2. This colour is so cute! It also looks so shiny as well - did you use a top coat or is that the varnish itself? Also, so impressed that it didn't chip until the fourth day! I have to give it a go :)

    Great post!

    1. Hi Charlotte. In my eagerness to get it on my nails I didn't bother with a base or top coat, it's the colour that is really glossy. Give it a go and let me know it goes. Xx
