La Chapelle || Winter sunshine in the French Alps

So, we were last together at après weren't we downing shots and bottles of fizz (remind yourself here) after arriving and surprising Emily and I promised I'd show the chalet that we holidayed in and tell you a little more about the area.

You know we were in the French Alps and to get there we flew into Geneva. Emily's chalet is in a small village called La Chapelle D'Abondance and the nearest small town is Chatel. I know Emily gets a little frustrated sometimes as she can't just walk into Chatel, which is where all her friends are, well, she could but it would take roughly an hour and on a busy road or either cross country, we certainly wouldn't be happy with her walking, so she has to rely on lifts backwards and forwards but she's managing and it's certainly not detracting from her having the time of her life!

If you're a guest staying at Chalet Le Dragon, Matt takes you to and from the slopes so don't worry you don't have to walk :)

Chalet Le Dragon is a luxury catered ski chalet with 5 bedrooms and easy access to Portes du Soleil with Matt, Emma and Emily doing everything they can to make your stay like a home from home.

The views as you can see are breathtaking and I could sit on the balcony all day taking it all in.

The chalet has a large open plan lounge & dining area with an open fire, tv and large sofas. There's a snug area and all of the bedrooms are warm, cosy and comfortable.

La Chapelle is only a small village but don't worry it has more or less everything you need, although not for Emily, she needs the town, where the action is and her friends are, but for the chalet holiday makers it's fine. There's a few restaurants and bars with the Fer Rouge being our favourite. The village is about 10 minutes walk down a good hill, but then back up the not so good hill after your night out :) I'm so unfit and was always out of breath when I finally got to the top, helped to work of all those calories though. The village is so pretty at night and Mr C and I found it so funny that all the Christmas decs were still up and it was nearly Feb!

We decided not to go back up the slopes on our last day, because not being skiers it's all the same, going up to have a drink and watch everyone else having fun, so we chose to go for a walk.

The chalet is surrounded by mountains which offer fabulous hikes once the snow has disappeared. Emily took us up the mountain at the back of the chalet, nothing major mind you, not actually up, UP a mountain, more a gentle walk, slightly up a mountain, through the woods and back down again ending up in the village.

Mr C and I love to get out walking and to walk here was just amazing. I was even sick of hearing myself saying how amazing it was every 5 minutes, every time we turned a corner I was blown away though. Crisp white snow, brilliant sunshine, streams trickling their way down the mountain, the tallest trees and freshest of fresh air. Definitely want to go back in the summer. Who's coming with me?

I love these snaps that Emily captured with her selfie stick, they'll be treasured forever.

Thirsty and hungry and hearts full of happiness we ambled back down into the village in search of coffee and cake. We found it at Les Cornettes and sat in the sunshine wishing we didn't have to go back to real life.

It was a truly magical trip and we're so glad we decided to go and Emily, even though we saw you for those few days we miss you madly and can't wait for you to come home at the end of April!
