L'oréal pure clay face masks || Review

L'Oréal pure clay mask review skincare beauty Priceless Life of Mine

I've babbled on enough on this 'ere blog about how I still get spots in my forties and how much it gets me down sometimes so I've given in and picked up these masks by L'Oréal. I'd seen them around a lot   and they've been rated fairly highly so thought why not?!

There are three in the Pure Clay collection: Glow mask, detox mask and the purity mask. I don't think I need the purity mask right now as that helps to mattify oily, shiny skin, and mine isn't at the moment. I bought the glow and detox masks.

Glow mask

All the masks are made of of three pure clays and then a unique ingredient in each one. The glow mask is enriched with red algae which is known for its brightening properties, and then milled apricot seeds have been added to help with exfoliation of that dull, dry skin. Some people don't like a manual exfoliation but I do as I can really feel the product getting to work beneath my fingers! This one is gentle though as you just feel it as you're wiping the mask off. I use this on my cheeks, nose and forehead and I could see a difference from the first use. My skin did appear brighter and the thing I noticed most was that it looked a lot clearer.

Detox mask

This mask is enriched with black charcoal to help draw out impurities and nasties lurking under the skin! It helps to detoxify the surface and gets deep into the pores to leave you all clean and clear. I pop this one on my chin and upper lip and occasionally on my nose. This one feels really cooling when it goes on but then be warned because as it dries it sets hard, you know the ones I mean, where you can't move your face and can hardly speak, yeah that! Personally I don't like that feeling but as this one only goes on my chin and I love it so much I can put up with it. I did try it on my whole face the first time and couldn't wait to get it off, it made me feel strangely claustrophobic. :(

Whilst I love both of these masks and have already seen great results the downside for me is that they are not the easiest to remove, especially the detox one, but totally worth the hassle. Oh, and also, I'm not a fan of dipping my fingers into (heavy glass) pots to get the product out, I rather a tube but I think because they are clay and so thick a pot is the best option.

The multi-masking beauty trend is still huge and it's great to be able to target specific problem areas all at the same time and these three masks are perfect for that. L'Oreal have got it spot on.

I paid full price for the detox one but then got the glow mask when it was on offer in Boots and I'm pleased to report they are still on offer for just £5 each. You can find more info on the detox here and the glow here.

Are you a fan of multi-masking? Have you tried the L'Oreal ones?

  1. These look great Steph! I'm glad you recommend them as I've heard lots about them recently. I would like to try the one for oily skin, so I'll have to pick one up on my next trip to Boots!

  2. Seem a few people 'promoting' these..
I love a good face mask and like the idea, as you say of being able to target specific areas for a specific reason. :) I'd be inclined to choose the same as you, I need all the glow I can get for my tired, sometimes dehydrated skin.. :/

  4. Oooo I'm definitely going to get the glow mask! I need something to give my skin some warmth in this cold weather. They look just as good as The Body Shop masks, only so so much cheaper (hopefully I can find them at a good price still) xxx
