Our return to Titanic Spa in Yorkshire

Back in 2014 my friend and I booked a stay at Titanic Spa. A luxury award winning spa set in the hills of the pennines in the heart of Yorkshire. You can check out my previous post here. After that visit we promised to go back some day and that's exactly what we did a few weeks ago. We both took our daughters this time for an overnight stay. From the Midlands it's a two hour drive but totally worth it for sure! As you can see from the picture above it was a crisp January day but the sun was shining and the drive up was perfect.

Titanic is an Eco spa set in a restored mill, blending the architecture with the modern state of the art spa and apartment accommodation. It works perfectly.

I won't go into too much detail as it's in the previous post but we arrived at 10.30 and checked in. Your apartment isn't available until 2pm so you take a case/overnight bag and then a separate one for the spa area as you can go in more or less straight away after your welcome drink. We couldn't wait to get into the dressing gown and slippers and feel the stresses slipping away!

The overnight package we booked (Sunday night stopover) included a facial for us all, 2 course lunch and evening meal and you're given a schedule for the day when you check in. When we arrived they also had some special offers on treatments that were still available so we all booked ourselves in for a massage too!!

Our lunch was booked for 1.30pm so we made the most of the heat and ice experience in the morning. I love this area so much, could stay in there all day to be fair. I've no pictures of this area but I did do a cheeky insta story early the following morning when no one was around. There's a highlight on my instagram here if you fancy watching it to get a good feel for the place.

We ate lunch then got the keys for our apartments, went to see what they were like and grab a quick coffee. Our bags had been delivered to the rooms so you don't need to bother getting them from reception and taking them up yourself.

We totally lucked out on the accommodation on our last visit because we were allocated one of the larger rooms with two big bedrooms even though there was only two of us. This time we got two smaller apartments, both with just one bedroom each but they're great anyway with the same facilities. The girls shared a room and Sarah and I shared the other.

The apartments have everything you need. Milk in the fridge, orange juice for the morning, tea, coffee and a little breakfast basket. We took a couple of cheeky bottles of fizz to pop in our fridge for the evening. You don't go down for breakfast, it's continental in your apartment at your leisure.

Titanic spa lunch choice

I had to show you the food, it was so delicious!

Our evening meal was at 7.30pm and I'd actually put a request in for a later time in the evening as you can't eat in your dressing gowns (you can at lunch time) so we prefer to use the facilities until as late as possible then shower and change and go down for dinner, it works so well for us that way.

Anyway, enough dribbling over the food, and on to the treatments. Our massage was booked for 2.30 and they managed to get all four of us in at the same time which was amazing, so no waiting around for each other (we weren't in the same room obviously!!!) Just what our aching little bodies needed with my therapist commenting on the knots in my shoulders several times, she worked her magic though and pummelled them away in a jiffy.

Treatment room for Elemis superfood radiance facial

Our facial was at 5pm. Now, when we booked the stay we all said we wished we could change the facial to a massage as that's what we all would have preferred. We couldn't change it, as it turned out we got the massage deal on arrival anyway, BUT, let me tell you, we all floated out of the treatment rooms after the facial and couldn't stop talking about how incredible it was, seriously incredible. In fact, I've never had a facial like it. If you want to know, it was the Elemis superfood radiance facial. Heavenly. So glad we weren't able to change it, it was better than the massage by a million miles.

After dinner guests have access to Bar1911, a cocktail and champagne bar. We chose not to as we had fizz chilling in our fridge. We decided to grab a couple of DVD's and go have a girly night in our apartment. A selection of films are available free of charge from reception and they have plenty of choice. Incase you're wondering we watched Bridget Jone's baby; again :D

I've been to a few spa's and this is honestly my absolute favourite for quality and more importantly value for money. We paid £129 each for our overnight stay, which is incredible value compared to other overnight spas, especially when you consider the facial is £75 alone when you book it separately. We also opted to go on a Sunday/Monday which meant we all only needed to take one day off work rather than two. They do a Saturday package but it's more expensive.

I will also mention that we did give some negative feedback on this trip. There were some small things in the apartment that should have been sorted by the housekeeping team, curtain partly falling down, dirty bed linen, cobwebs on the bedroom ceiling, and an issue with the toiletries in the bathroom. As I say, little things but for a 'luxury' spa these should not be overlooked because they always paint the bigger picture. The other issue for us were the staff in the restaurant. Not friendly, and all gave the appearance of not wanting to be there. Two of them were chewing gum, a big NO NO! They certainly let down the rest of the staff, their service was exceptional. We did feed this back and it's been taken on board.

The little niggly things didn't detract from how much we enjoyed our stay but I think it's important to be totally honest, however big or small and it will never stop us from going back, in fact the four of us have now decided it's going to be our yearly January pilgrimage to help us recover from the festive season!! After all we deserve it.

If you're a woman (or man) after my own heart and love a spa as much as I do then you need to check out their website here, they have some amazing offers all year round.
